New Trex 600E

I finally decided to go for it and buy a new Trex 600E and it arrived last Saturday. The build is well underway and has been easy so far. The manual has been very good to follow and i havent needed any help so far. I like building helis.

Photos of my progress will follow soon

20-22 July 3D Masters

This is the second time that I have been to watch a 3D competition this year. 3D Masters 2007. I was due to go to Northampton on the Friday night but the weather was so wet and windy I didnt go and as it happened there was no flying to watch in any case. Instead I travelled up early on the sunny Saturday morning. The site was a mud bath but the event and the flying was so awesome that it made up for it totally. Its difficult to express in words the flying unless you were actually there to see it.

Trev Burley had entered into Sportsmans and did really really well by coming third. It made all the difference actually knowing someone who had entered.

The highlights for me were the following;
  • The amazing young lad, Alon Barak, demo flying who was absolutely fantastic and will obviously be a master 3D flier in the future.
  • The flight to music by the eventual 3D master Dominik Haegele - awesome
  • Night flying
  • Watching all the British fliers such as Duncan Osbourne and Steve Gerrard
  • Watching the Szabo brothers. have only seen them on DVD's before. fantastic to see them for real. Breathtaking flying.

All in all an awesome weekend and I shall definitly be going next year.

Friday 13th !!!!!!!

Crashed my 450 V2 for the first time. Not sure what happened but I think it was just an orientation thing :-( minor damage luckily - flybar and sheared off screw and nut :-) it was fixed at the field so I was able to fly again.

Chris also crashed his 450 too :-( he was doing inverted when his heli started to spin out of control. Not sure what happened but it hit the ground quite hard breaking many parts - Oops!

Other than that it was a beautiful sunny evening with a gentle breeze.

It's official I can hover !! LOL :-)

Finally, a weekend of sunshine ........ and I had to go to Hereford to take Dave to the third Hereford beer and cider festival. :-( Shame...... I wasnt impressed but I had promised so that was that. We had a good time and it was nice to see some of the family again BUT its not heli flying.

Anyway I managed to persuade him to leave early Sunday morning so that I could come back for an afternoon of flying. Well, I'm glad I did as I visited helipad and I finally managed to take and pass my A certificate. At last..... its official I can hover lol!!

Wind...Rain...Wind...Rain...Wind... !!!!! :-(

Over the last week or so my flying has been virually no existent mainly due to the awful weather here on the south coast. So much for the hot summer we were promised!

On Sunday, Chris and I were so desperate to fly our helis, we braved the elements and tried to fly our 450's in a small barn in Soberton. I was only able to just hover about but Chris who is a lot more skillful than me managed to dodge around the tractor and odd hay bail. But as is always the case all good things come to an end which involved Chris crashing inverted into a bail of hay. Broken blades and grips now on order.

It was my better halfs birthday on Monday and he got a great card from one of our friends. Dave may not be overly enthusiatic about my heli addiction but his friends think its great :-).

My friend Sue unbelievably won the Midland caption competition the week after me. What are the odds of that happening. Two Sue's winning one week after the other. This sets the scene for a challenge now :-) What do you say Sue?

Madrid

Yesterday I returned from Madrid, Spain after spending four nights there. Madrid is a great city with some fantastic architecture. Everywhere you turned you saw very tall decreative buildings.

One of the most pleasant surprises was turning up at the main train station and seeing a beautiful garden inside a glass structure. Stunning. Take a look !

Although it was great to get away from work and the wet weather in the UK, it was equally nice to come back and get out and fly my little T Rex. I flew locally although the wind did push my flying skills to the limit :-) Great fun though....still love it.
As you can see the grass hasn't been cut....not enough time..too much flying! lol

Test flying of Swift

At the weekend I worked on my Swift so that it is a more capable flying machine. (is that possible with a swift?). I have replaced the receiver with an AR7000 so I can fly using my new DX7, I added a new S9254 tail servo to compliment my 401 Gyro, and probably the best item I changed was the motor. I now have a Century 600+ on 12T pinion instead of the endurance stock motor.

Yesterday, Ash and I met up so that he could check my set up. After a bit of fine tuning, i.e. the meshing was too tight etc it flew a treat, although Ash thinks I need to change the pinion to 13T which I have now ordered as well as other bits that I dont need! (But it justifies the postage - well thats my story anyway :-))

Weather is pants today!

Well, it has rained all day today and I havent been able to get out and fly any of my helis. I found my heli friend's (another Sue) blog whilst mouching around on the net so I thought that I would create one myself for the fun of it.
